Questions & Answers

My 13 year old dog is hardly eating and sleeps most of the time. She has lost weight and shows no sign of being in pain. What can it be?

It sounds like your pet has had a great 13 years.  Our geriatric pets have special needs and sorting out their problems can be challenging since they can’t talk to us.  In particular, a lack of appetite needs to be taken seriously and addressed.  There are many reasons why your pet may stop eating including mouth pain (such as an abscessed tooth or other dental disease), kidney disease, liver disease, heart disease, among others.  Please contact us at 813 885 4477 as soon as possible so that we can examine your pet and determine how we can make her quality of life as good as possible.
