Our 2 year old parakeet suddenly can’t stand on its feet anymore. He eats and drinks normally, but can’t walk. We are in Columbia and the local vets have no idea what can be wrong with him. Any ideas?

I’m sorry to hear about your daughter’s pet.  It is indeed difficult to offer advice without being able to examine the patient; however I wonder about the possibility of a spinal injury (perhaps traumatic) that has caused the leg weakness.

Radiographs (xrays) and bloodwork (a complete blood count and chemistry) would be advised.  I’m sorry that I don’t know of any veterinary contacts in Columbia.
