Questions & Answers

What does it mean if my cat is vomiting blood?

Vomiting blood can present itself in a couple different ways in cats. If the vomit contains bright red blood, then it is an indication of “fresh” bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract. If the vomit contains very dark particles (similar to coffee grounds), then it is an indication of blood that has been present longer and is partially digested. There can be a variety of reasons for a cat to vomit blood ranging in severity. It is highly recommended that you bring your kitty in today if possible.
