Questions & Answers

My dog has bad odor coming out of his mouth and both his k9’s are black. He seems to be pain free but it doesn’t look so well. What should I do and how much would it cost?

Foul smelling breath usually signifies some sort of infectious problem within the oral cavity. This may involve multiple teeth or may be limited to only a couple teeth. Discoloration of the canine teeth may be due to intrinsic staining from endodontic disease involving the pulp or it may be extrinsic staining from enamel changes or calculus accumulation on the tooth surface. A thorough oral exam ($56 fee) is needed to evaluate the overall health of the mouth and only then can we provide an accurate estimate for what procedures are needed based on our exam findings.
