Lisa Teske is originally from Nebraska and graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1998, where she then went into veterinary school at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, and graduated in 2002. Dr. Teske was then accepted into an advanced competitive internal medicine and surgery rotating Internship from 2002 to 2003 at Florida Veterinary Specialist in Tampa, FL. Additional electives pursued during her specialized training were Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Oncology, Behavior, and Exotics. Dr. Teske then spent an additional year under the guidance of an Exotic specialist for more concentrated studies limited to Exotic animal medicine and surgery – while at the same time joining our private practice in 2003 at our sister hospital, Temple Terrace Animal and Bird Hospital. Dr. Teske then continued on with her special interest in Exotics while at our practice and joined the ranks of our Pebble Creek staff in 2006. We are also pleased to announce that Dr. Teske is also a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (CVA) by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society since February 2008! The highly prestigious certification process entailed Dr. Teske to complete an intensive advanced complementary study of 150 hours of exclusive Traditional Chinese Medicine, an acupuncture internship, written and practical examinations, and a case report for publication.

Dr Teske’s professional interests include complementary medicine (herbal therapies, acupuncture/aquapuncture/electrostimulation/moxibution, food modification), pain management for all species, avian internal medicine, pocket pet husbandry, feline respiratory diseases, and canine endocrine disorders. Dr. Teske’s recreational interests include kayaking down the Hillsborough River, mountain biking, yoga, Nebraska Cornhusker football games, Tampa Bay Lightning hockey games, scuba diving, deep sea fishing, photography, and international travels. Dr. Teske lives with her husband, Dr. Samuel Teske, who owns his own Ophthalmology practice in the New Tampa area, their two sons Grayson, born in February 2008, and Beckett born in August 2010, rescued Border Collie mix dog named Sadie, and their Congo African Gray parrot named Zazu.
