Tampa Bay Animal Hospitals | Tampa, FLWhy is it so important to microchip your pets? Because they can get separated or lost and this may be the only way to get them home safely. It’s as simple as that. We see it daily – an unknowing, kind person will show up to one of our practices with a pet that does not belong to them, asking if we can see if they are microchipped. Often times they are, and it is a happy reunion. But if a pet is not microchipped, it makes reuniting them with their family pretty difficult.

Pets can get startled on walks, scared during a storm, overlooked during a car accident. There are many scenarios that could play out for even the most cautious pet parent.

Microchips are an inexpensive way to ensure the safety of your precious pet. They are relatively painless and around the size of a grain of rice.

If your pet is already microchipped, make sure that their microchip is registered. If you aren’t sure if your pet is microchipped, give us a call and we can help. We can check your pet’s records and make sure your pet is safe.

Did you know…

…that our microchips now have technology that lets us take your pet’s temperature? We now carry a new microchip from HomeAgain that detects your pet’s temperature in addition to providing a permanent form of identification for your pet! Each pet’s temperature is read by passing a microchip scanner over the pets’ shoulder blades.
