Is Ivermectin toxic to a 3 year-old African Pygmy hedgehog?

Ivermectin at the appropriate dosage is very safe in hedgehogs, but overdosage could make them very ill (which is true in most mammals). Ivermectin dosages for hedgehogs are very small and are diluted from the large mammal (cattle/pig) solution in order to be safe. Therefore, I recommend using this medication only under direct veterinary supervision. In most cases, I prefer using a similar product (selamectin, the active ingredient in Revolution) due to its ease of use. If your hedgie is suffering from mites, we would be happy to help you by examining him and treating with the appropriate safe medication.
