The Mood-boosting Power of Pets
Posted on May 1, 2021 in News

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and something we take very seriously. The Tampa Bay Animal Hospital Group hosts several events for their veterinarians and team members annually to ensure they are taking the care and time they need for their mental well-being.

Every year more than 45,000 people take their own lives. And these rates are at an all time high for veterinarians and veterinary staff. We do our best as a family to check in with each other, notice signs of excessive stress or change of mood, and understand the pressure that comes with our careers.

In honor of our lost colleagues and loved ones, we would like to take a moment to share with our team and our wonderful clients that you matter and are loved.

If you have thoughts of harming your self, please reach out for help.

For immediate assistance, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-8255 or text HOME to 741741.

Did you know pets can be very beneficial for our mental health?

Pets have evolved to become acutely attuned to us humans, our behavior, and emotions. Pets, especially dogs and cats, can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, ease loneliness, encourage exercise and playfulness, and even improve your cardiovascular health. A pet can add joy and unconditional love to your life.
