Walk Your Dog Month

Walk Your Dog Month was established to promote the well-being of dogs and encourage responsible pet ownership. It reminds us that dogs require regular exercise and mental stimulation to stay healthy and happy. This observance also serves as a reminder of the joy and companionship that dogs bring to our lives.

There are many benefits to walking your dog for both you and your sweet pup. You both will get fresh air, a little exercise, and a bonding experience that will bring you closer – not to mention walking you pet is the perfect way to feel less guilty about all of those extra treats during the Holiday Season!

Some tips on dog walking:

  • Always have dog waste bags on hand. Never ever leave dog dropping behind. (It is not fertilizer!)
  • Be sure the pavement is not too hot for their paws. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws.
  • If you are going on longer walks, pack water for both you and your dog.
  • Do not approach other dogs while on walks. Unless both pet parents agree to the encounter.
  • Invest in a comfortable harness for your dog. As collars can restrict breathing and make your dog a little more difficult to manage.
