My 10 year old cat has just recently started pooping on the carpet instead of his litter box. I clean his box daily. Should I be concerned?

Hello,

There are several possible underlying causes for what you describe including constipation, parasites, stress, dietary changes, other health issues such as kidney issues or even an overactive thyroid gland.  He definitely needs an exam to further discuss and start ruling out these and other possible causes. Most causes are quite treatable, which is the great news!
