Questions & Answers

Two of my three rats are losing hair in patches and have quite a few bald patches. The third rat doesn’t appear to have any issues with hair loss. Is this normal or should I be concerned?

Regarding your question about the rats, an exam would definitely be recommended. Hair loss may be due to infectious agents (mites, fleas, mange, etc), or an infection may be present. There are tests we can do to check that out. We have a litter exam fee then after that, a treatment plan would be made for any tests/medications that would be recommended. Please don’t hesitate to call if you want to schedule.

Sincerely,

Dr. Courtney Riley
