Questions & Answers

My new baby guinea pig is breathing really fast and making a weird noise at times. What can it be?

Congratulations on the newest addition to your family! Based upon your description, there is a good possibility that your guinea pig has an upper respiratory infection (URI) and should be examined soon for appropriate treatment. These infections are primarily bacterial in nature, and have the possibility to progress to pneumonia quickly, especially in young guinea pigs. Please give us a call to make an appointment at your earliest convenience.
